My name is Katie, and I joined the BDA team as a swim lessons instructor and lifeguard.

I swam competitively from ages four to 18, and the sport is a huge part of my life.
I have taught private swim lessons for the past four summers and just finished my first season coaching a summer league team.
I also coached swimming for the Special Olympics of Orange County for about five years.

I’m heading into my second year of university at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, where I study sociology and religious studies.  I hope to go on to law school when I graduate.

While I’m home in Chapel Hill for the summer, I enjoy reading and spending time with my dog, a little chihuahua named Steve.
